This current piece is taking time. Things must fit just right. (Or must not fit just right.) Must contrast just right. Must square up just right. Must align just right. (Sometimes ya gotta fake it like a singer who has momentarily forgotten the lyrics. Think of the great song, "What's New.")

Notched layouts demand trial and error and good taste.
This one will be done soon. Probably.

I see notched layouts used regularly mostly in editorial treatments. Herb Lubalin developed it in his great series of posters. Skirt magazine uses it in a bright decorative way.
